Raise Your Glass to the Loneliest Beer

This week's toast goes out to the loneliest beer.  Yep, you know the one.  You left it sitting on the shelf instead of buying it the other day.  You even picked it up, raising the poor beer's hopes, before setting it back down on the shelf.  And then it sat there alone and there it sits still, waiting...

Why didn't you buy that beer?  Because it was unfamiliar?  If you don't ever try anything new, how can you expect to stumble into something wonderful?  So sad...: Is that condensation or a tear?So sad...: Is that condensation or a tear?

Were you afraid of it?  What's the worst that could come of it?  You'd be out a few bucks and need to wash a sour taste out of your mouth.  Isn't that what mouthwash (and tequila) is for?

Was it the price?  What price would you put on a good memory?  That beer could have changed the way you see this world.  If you've never had a beer change your perspective, then you definately haven't tried enough.

Were you afraid what someone else would say if they saw you drinking it?  Why do you care?  Have the courage to live your life without concerns about what "others" think.

Did you just decide to put it off for a later time?  This life slips our grasp far too quickly.  Seize the day.

Beers are brewed with a single soul purpose - to be drank.  All beers dream about making their way into your belly.  Yes, yours.  Your belly is grumbling and thirsty anyway.  Who are you to deny a beer its destiny?

So Many Possibilities: Adventure AwaitsSo Many Possibilities: Adventure AwaitsThat beer you left on the shelf is still sitting there cold and lonely under the flourescent lights, separated from the others by cardboard divider.  These forgotten warriors have yet to fulfill their calling, and all since you lack the sense of adventure to try something new.  I can't guarantee that this beer will be delicious, but I can guarantee you'll be wiser for the experience (it's been said that all that this life is but a collection of shared experience).  The lonely beer is desperate for your attention.  Will you go back there and give it a chance?  Will you help this brave beer complete its journey?

I challenge you, dear readers, to try a new beer this week.  Take a risk.  Trust me, it's worth it.  Even if I'm wrong and that beer is terrible, it will be memorable.  And who knows? It could turn out to be your new favorite.

Raise your glass to the loneliest beer and offer hopes that it finds its way home to a beer connoisseur's admiring belly.
