The Beer Connoisseur recently had the pleasure of attending a pre-opening event at Cheeky, a new restaurant in Cumming, Ga., founded by Jose Hevia. 

Aside from the allure of the upscale, sports-centric restaurant, which serves latin cuisine, Cheeky sets itself apart with a PYOB (Pour Your Own Beer) draft system. Hevia installed the first Pour Your Own Draft system in his original Cheeky restaurant in Suwanee, Ga., but this new installment showcases an overhauled and highly sophisticated setup that could revolutionize draft systems far and wide.

There are taps right at the tables for patrons to pour their own brews, as well as a draft wall where one can sample up to eight different beers (the system charges by the ounce). This is a great way for a customer to pour tastes of different beers to sharpen one's palate. The tables also sport handheld wireless Internet devices so customers can surf while they sip.

All in all, the concept increases the consumers interaction with beer and promotes learning and exploration, which is what we here at BC are all about.

Cheeky opens to the public on Monday, March 8th. For those in Atlanta, it's well worth making the drive to exit 13 off Georgia Hwy 400.
