Size Does Matter! 2nd Annual Nano Fest supports small brewers, local Buckman arts school
PORTLAND, OR – (Aug. 24, 2010) – Local event toasts how big tastes emerge from tiny breweries. The 2nd Annual Nano Fest, co-sponsored by the Rogue Foundation and the Green Dragon, is a celebration of entrepreneurial brewers who limit their output to fewer than 996 barrels or less per year. The event will be held on Aug. 28, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Aug. 29, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at the Green Dragon, 928 SE 9th St. in Portland.
The Nano Fest will feature more than 25 nano brewers including: Oregon Brew Crew, Natian, Heater Allen, Upright, Block 15, Buckman Village Brewery, 3 Creeks, Captured by Porches, Fearless, Panty Dropper, Coalition, Barley Brown, Pale Horse, Walk About, and more. Festival goers will sample some of the most unique and hard-to-find beers available in Beervana. A variety of local food cart favorites, such as Namu, Domo Dogs, Superdogs and Koi Fusion, will be on hand when the need to feed arises. Nano Fest is also a 100 percent dog-friendly event and owners are encouraged to bring their furry companions.
“It’s a celebration of the creativity that we celebrate everyday at the Green Dragon with our 49 taps,” said Brett Joyce, President of Rogue Ales & Spirits.
Nano Fest profits will be donated to Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School, a neighborhood school that enhances the intellectual, social and academic development of its students through music, art, theater, and creative movement. The Buckman School is located less than a mile from the Green Dragon at 320 SE 16th Ave. in Portland.
“(The school) is honored and privileged to have the support of our community and local businesses such as Rogue and Green Dragon,” noted Brian Anderson, Principal of Buckman Arts Focus Elementary. “Since we are an arts focus, we depend heavily on the support of our community partnerships. Without this support, especially in light of recent cuts, our arts focus would cease to exist.”
Admission to the festival is $10 and attendees will receive five taster tickets. Additional taster tickets will be sold from $1 each.
