Cigar City Hunahpu's Imperial Stout

The Hunahpu's Imperial Stout 2015 release party is tomorrow at Cigar City Brewing, where Hunahpu's Day will be celebrated with a glorious festival. Let's enjoy a little Pint Break today with this bottle from 2014, a sun and moon kind of approach  -- one sets and the other rises...

According to Mayan mythology (and the Cigar City site), Hun Hunahpu and his brother Vucub Hunahpu were tricked by Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. Hun Hunahpu’s corpse morphed into a cacao tree, with his head becoming a cacao pod. It then spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xiquic who soon became pregnant with the hero twins – Hunahpu and Xbalanque. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle, defeat the Dark Lords, and ascend to the heavens to become the sun and moon.

Hunahpu's Imperial Stout pours like a midnight oil, leaving a dark -- but good -- creamy head with hints of robust coffee and cocoa. It goes down with a subtle chili kick and sweet toffee finish. Feel the heat!
