Kennedy Summers: Crafty Celebrity Stories

Model, medical student and Playboys 2014 Playmate of the Year – Kennedy Summers joins The Beer Connoisseur for the next installment of the Crafty Celebrity Stories series, which features the best tales of ale, and more, from leading actors, celebrities and persons of interest.

Beer drinkers like to laugh. What’s the funniest drinking story you can share with us?
I would say that the funniest drinking story I can share happened when I was in high school (oops!).  My friends and I drank on the football field and changed the letters of the school sign around.  It used to say something like, “Fall Festival—bring baked goods, watch the basketball game, etc, etc!” and we revised it to say, “Election Day—No School Tuesday.”  About half of the sixth grade didn’t show up for class on Tuesday morning, and I had detention everyday for the rest of my junior year for that stunt.  So worth it.

Who's the coolest person you've had a beer with?
Being in the entertainment industry, I’ve been lucky enough to have a beer with quite a few cool people!  I don’t think I should name names, though…

What are a few of your favorite craft beers and why?
I love Fat Tire, Sam Adams, and Uinta.  I drank Fat Tire when I lived in Chicago, my family always had Sam Adams around when I was growing up, and Uinta is something that I discovered when friends visited me in Utah, last year.  It was a lot of fun to go to the Uinta brewery and try their flights—something that I’d never gotten to do before!

Do you have a favorite (craft) brewery or breweries and why?
My favorite is Rogue Ales — I’m in love with Rogue Dead Guy!  It’s so thick and dark that it almost feels like you’re drinking soy sauce, but I can’t get enough of it!  I found it when I was living in New York a few years ago and it’s still my go-to craft beer.

Have you attended any beer events or festivals that you particularly enjoyed? What made them stand out?
I’ve actually been to some beer festivals in Europe that were really cool! I went to a Schwimmbadfest in Landshut, Germany, once — kind of a German, redneck pool party.  You sit at long tables with everyone and drink beer by the liter — my friend’s uncle was really impressed that I managed to drink three liters and still be standing!  He didn't realize that I’m a seasoned beer drinker, though!  I actually never drink liquor!

What projects do you have brewing?
I’m in my third year of medical school and I’m ready to graduate!  Life is kind of on hold while I work on that, though! I really want to be a doctor, since being a model isn't a “forever” job!  It’s really important to me to invest time in my future.
