Pomalo by Belching Beaver Brewery was judged using the latest BJCP Guidelines (2021) under style #18B, American Pale Ale.
The pour of this beer was a light yellow hue that had a very nice clarity where one can see through the glass. The carbonation was very bubbly and consisted of a pillowy head that had good retention. The aromas for this beer were very subtle with light malt sweetness and a touch of hops. The flavor of this beer revealed light malt and a light hop balance. The hop bittering didn't taste smooth, but rather harsh in the palate. The body of this beer along with the mouthfeel was also very light (almost watery) in the mouth. The overall impression of this beer is that, yes, this is an American pale ale, but it just barely hits the style parameters. Just seemed "light" all the way around in regards to the malt level along with the hop bittering.
