Beer for Dogs? Minnesota-Made Tail Chaser Dog Brew Launches Across Minnesota

Tail Chaser Brew in Minneapolis, Minnesota has announced the release of a new canned dog bone broth throughout Minnesota. Full details are below.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – Tail Chaser Brew, a new locally brewed dog bone broth created by two iconic Minnesota brands- Craft & Crew Hospitality Group and FINNEGANS, launched this week in Cub Stores throughout Minnesota and at more than 70 breweries, hotels, and restaurants.

Tail Chaser Brew came out of an idea from David Benowitz and Luke Derheim of Craft & Crew Hospitality Group, which owns six dog-friendly restaurants and bars across the Twin Cities. The Craft & Crew Restaurants have been welcoming dogs for many years, even having a special menu for them so it is no surprise they have created a dog brew—just for them!

“We wanted to create a one-of-a-kind bone broth brew that could be used both as a meal topper with nutritional benefits and also a special treat for dogs,” said Benowitz, co-owner of Craft & Crew. “Tail Chaser Dog Brew is unlike other dog brews on the market as it is 100% clean, made with just seven natural ingredients, no salt, preservative or fillers.”

Benowitz and Derheim reached out to a friend and now partner, Jacquie Berglund, founder of FINNEGANS about the dog brew idea, and she did not hesitate to get involved. Tail Chaser Brew is now locally brewed at FINNEGANS in Minneapolis.

Auntie Anne's and Evil Genius Beer Co. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has announced the release of a collaboration Oktoberfest beer. Full details are below.

Philadelphia, PA -  Auntie Anne’s®, the world’s largest hand-rolled soft pretzel franchise, and Philadelphia-based Evil Genius Beer Company have teamed up to create a special Oktoberfest-style lager that will be released just in time for the classic beer-centric celebration.

The new beer, dubbed Is Butter a Carb?, is an innovative riff on the timeless Oktoberfest beer style; brewed not only with imported German hops and malts, but also with fresh-baked Auntie Anne’s soft pretzels. This is the first time Auntie Anne’s iconic pretzels have been used as an ingredient to develop and create a unique beer available for purchase.

“The only thing better than pretzels AND beer, is pretzels IN beer," said Evil Genius Beer Company Co-Founder Trevor Hayward. “We really wanted to tie the brands together in a fun way that reminds you of biting into a warm pretzel with every sip.”

The new beer comes in at 5.5% ABV and has all the makings of a classic Oktoberfest, such as a rich malt backbone balanced by delicate hop character, and feature a prominent toasty flavor profile that is rounded out with pleasant salinity.

Flying Dog Brewery and Stranahan's Whiskey Reunite To Honor Founder George Stranahan

Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland and Stranahan's Whiskey in Denver, Colorado has announced the release of a beer called The Osopher to honor the brewery's founder, George Stranahan. Full details are below.

To celebrate their shared history and commemorate their founder George Stranahan, Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and Flying Dog Brewery created two new specialty products for what they call The Osopher project. Having collaborated over the years to share beer mash and barrels, The Osopher project marks the first joint product release for the two companies.

George Stranahan - astrophysicist, writer, photographer, entrepreneur, rancher, and philanthropist - founded the Flying Dog Brewpub in Aspen, Colorado in 1990, a decade after discovering the “flying dog” while on a mountaineering trip to K2, the world’s deadliest mountain. The Flying Dog brand expanded to become one of the top 50 production breweries in the U.S. and continues to this day to produce world-class beers at its brewery in Frederick, Maryland.

In 2004, George Stranahan and Jess Graber co-founded Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, Colorado’s first legal distillery since Prohibition in downtown Denver. The original Stranahan’s Whiskey utilized mash from Flying Dog’s Road Dog Porter. Today, Stranahan’s is the country’s leading American Single Malt whiskey and a fixture in Denver’s booming distilling scene.
