Spencer Trappist Brewery Auction Set for June 23

Spencer Brewery in Spencer, Massachusetts has announced the sale of its brewing equipment after the brewery shut down in May. Spencer was the only recognized Trappist brewery in the U.S. Full details on the auction are below.


SPENCER, Massachusetts – Spencer Brewery, founded by the monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey will sell all assets and equipment at public auction on Thursday June 23, 2022 at 10 AM. Boston auction firm Paul E. Saperstein Co. will conduct the sale using the online auction platform Bidspotter.com. The sale is open to all, and includes state-of-the-art equipment used for the commercial brewing and bottling of craft beer. A public inspection of these items will be held on-site in Spencer, MA on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, 22 from 9 AM – 4 PM. Private tours are also available by appointment. All are welcome.

Michael Saperstein, Executive Vice President of Paul E. Saperstein Co. said, “We hate to see the closure of Spencer Brewery, but we are here to support the monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey as best we can on this journey. I would encourage anyone who’s interested in the beer brewing industry to take a look at the equipment that will be coming up for auction. It is truly top-notch.”

Austin, TX - - Austin Beerworks and _OFCOLOR announced the release of its limited-edition WKND Gold brew. In honor of Black Art WKND this June, WKND Gold was produced to amplify Black voices and celebrate Black culture across the city.

The beer is a refreshing lager brewed with Heirloom Carolina Gold rice, which is rooted in African lineage. The flavor encompasses overtones of honey, melon, citrus, and red berries. It finishes bright and crisp with a nice heirloom grain backbone. WKND Gold is available while supplies last premiering at Black Art WKND that begins June 10th. 

Jonathan ‘Chaka’ Mahone designed the can’s label, which he hopes inspires a oneness, openness and mystery among event attendees.

Mother Earth Brew Co. in Vista, California has announced a collaboration with Revision Brewing. This marks the first 4Seasons collaboration in two years for Mother Earth. Full details are below.


Vista, CA & Nampa, ID – June 7TH, 2022. Since 2014, Mother Earth’s 4Seasons program has boasted some of the brewery’s most coveted concoctions. Although typically barrel-aged, some of the brews in their quarterly series deviate from the big, syrupy stout variety in favor of carefully chosen, more session-friendly collaboration brews. Having taken a collab hiatus for a couple summer seasons due to the pandemic, ‘Summer’ is back in a big way with a heavy-hitting friendship IPA brewed with Sparks, Nevada-based, Revision Brewing.

The West-Coast IPA is right on brand for both breweries, whos names have both become synonymous with the resurging style, having been producing some of craft beer’s hoppiest brews over a combined two decades of brewing. Mother Earth’s Co-founder and President, Daniel Love, says that talks of a collab between he and Jeremy Warren (CEO and Head Brewer of Revision Brewing) began much earlier, but were delayed due to the pandemic:
